About this meditation

This 5-minute guided meditation is the shortest in the library — short by design. A gentle body scan, a wave of relaxation from crown to toes, and a three-line lullaby: I am safe. I am still. I am ready to rest.

Save this one for the nights when sleep is close but the mind won't quite let go. Short enough that you'll likely be asleep before it ends.

Welcome! We are about to dive into the world of guided meditation. Get comfortable in your bed. Let your body settle.

Feel the weight of the mattress beneath you and take a long, gentle breath in through your nose and release slowly through your mouth.

Allow your eyes to softly close if they haven't already. This is your time. This is your space to let go. Let us begin by simply noticing your body.

Feel the covers resting over you. Feel the stillness of the air around you. Notice the points where your body meets the bed. Your shoulders. Your hips. Your heels. You don't need to change anything. Just notice.

Now, begin to bring your awareness to your breath. Without effort. Without judgment. Just follow the natural rhythm. The rise and fall. If thoughts begin to wander in, gently guide your attention back to your breath. It's okay for the mind to be active you're simply choosing not to follow every thought.

With each breath, invite a deeper stillness. Breathe in calm. Breathe out the tension. Let your forehead soften. Unclench your jaw. Let your shoulders melt downward.

Feel gravity doing its job. No need to hold anything up. You are safe to release.

Now, visualize a gentle wave of relaxation beginning at the crown of your head, slowly flowing down your face, relaxing your neck, unwinding your shoulders. This wave moves gently, without pressure, down your arms, through your chest, into your stomach.

With each breath, the wave washes over you, bringing more calm, more quiet, more peace. Let this wave continue down through your hips, your thighs, knees, all the way to your feet, until your entire body is bathed in calm, comforting stillness. You are held. You are safe.

There is nothing left to do, nowhere to go, nowhere to go, no one to be. Just be here. Breathing. Resting. And if the mind begins to chatter, that's okay. Just return your attention gently to your breath, and to the soothing weight of your body, resting deeply.

Repeat softly to yourself, like a lullaby. I am safe. I am still. I am ready to rest. Again. I am safe. I am still. I am ready to rest.

Allow those words to carry you further, into the quiet, into the calm, into the deep, nourishing sleep you deserve. Sleep is arriving. Let it take over. Let go.
